Family Visit - Part II - Tettnang

We left Switzerland to head north to visit relatives from my mom’s side in Tettnang, Germany.

Visiting Tettnang is always special for me, as it’s like going home. We have been visiting this area since I was a small child and it always brings back fond memories.

It was great as my aunts, uncles and many cousins lived in this small town, or in towns around Lake Constance, so visiting was always fun as this area is beautiful as it borders Switzerland and Austria.

Over the next 4 days we were visited by various family members, in the typical German fashion, over coffee and cake. We laughed, cried, reminisced with old photos and movies, drank, shopped, and wandered through the old city center.

During our stay, I had the fun of being the interpreter for both Mark and my cousins. I wasn’t sure how this would play out but worked much better than expected. Even Mark started to understand my cousins.

The time went by too quickly as it has a tendency to do but we are glad we had some time together. We promised the family we would visit again, hopefully with my siblings in the next couple of years.

There will always be a special place in my heart for this town and of course my family whether here or Munich.
